Scottsdale Fire volunteers help present programs and complete projects important to the operation of the department.

The following programs are examples of activities volunteers assist SFD in presenting to the community. Your volunteering will not be limited to one program or project. If you have questions about our volunteer program, email Scottsdale Fire.

Home Safe Home, Lockboxes and Smoke Alarms

Home Safe Home volunteers visit seniors in their homes and help residents identify their tripping and falling hazards. The volunteers will also review fire escape plans and check smoke alarms. When appropriate, they refer residents to agencies for additional assistance.

We also assist older adults and individuals with special needs to install lockboxes. We make deliveries and removals throughout the month. The days and times can be flexible based on your availability and the need.

Teacher/Trainer Volunteers

If you love public speaking or one-on-one teaching, this may be for you. Volunteers:

  • Teach people how to save a life with Hands-Only CPR.
  • Lead lessons in fire, transportation and water safety to preschoolers through 3rd grade.
Community Risk Reduction - Trail Safety

Hikers, bikers and riders love the trails on the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. And we expect usage to be high as we welcome visitors for the huge special events coming in early 2023. We are partnering with Preserve staff and the Conservancy to collect information and provide safety tips in a fun, interactive way at our trailheads this season. Days and times will be somewhat flexible.

Special Events, Projects and Administrative Tasks

There are a variety of projects and events throughout the year that need dependable, flexible volunteers to help complete. This may include interacting with the public about SFD and our programs at a special event or assisting with data entry.
